Guided Walks – Eco, Birding and Game Tracking
Typical Zambian-style guided walks. Enjoy all the big AND small things nature has to offer, accompanied by our knowledgeable guides. Depending on the time of day, your walk finishes with sundowners on one of the beautiful rocky outcrops. After sunset you can enjoy a game drive back to the lodge. Birders will enjoy spotting up to 130 bird species, some of which are endemic.
Game Drives
Although this part of Zambia is perfect for guided walks, game drives are offered in our open game drive vehicle. Drives take place within the Game Management Area or in the Kafue National Park after a boat transfer from the lodge to the Park’s banks.
Boat / Fishing Cruises
Boat cruises or fishing cruises are certainly a must whilst staying at Kaingu Safari Lodge. Accompanied by our boat operators and guides, the river is yours alone and has much beauty and wildlife to offer. Enjoy the peaceful ride or the best spots for fishing Yellow fish, Pike, Catfish, Bream, Tilapia, etc (this stretch of the river unfortunately does not contain Tiger fish).
River Trails
Make the maximum from your stay at Kiangsu and enjoy the most exciting way to experience the Kafue River. Accompanied by specialized guides float down the Kafue River in inflatable boats. Enjoy nature from a different perspective, spend the night on one of the islands in camps that are put up for the occasion and still enjoy Elisabeth’s succulent cuisine. These trips can take between 2 and 4 days, depending on your wishes.
Wilderness Canoe Trails
If you like the idea of the river trails but prefers to be back at the lodge for the night, this one day trip will meet your wishes. Accompanied by our guides, gently paddle down the river; stop for lunch on one of the banks, and towards the end of the day be driven back to the lodge for dinner.
Iron Smelter & Sundowner at Mpamba Rock
A traditional iron smelting site has been restored near the lodge. It makes an interesting and didactical visit which is easily combined with a sundowner walk to Mpamba rock.
Visit to Local Villages and School
Seeing how the local people live will help anyone understand how Africa works. A visit to the villages and meeting the typically very warm and hospital people will enrich your holiday in Zambia.
Kaingu Safari Lodge and Kaingu Stitching (a Dutch initiative patronized by the Dutch government) have realized the building of a new school at the village of Kaingu, about an hour’s drive from the lodge. Children from far and near are being educated at this school. A visit to this local initiative shows you the reality of aid to third world countries.
